WIDS is one of the largest student-led development summits taking place in the UK. We aim to encourage a critical debate among the leading political actors of today and our students to raise awareness of development issues. In 2006 we attracted 30 speakers from 6 continents to come to Warwick University, in an effort to raise awareness of development issues to both a lay and a knowledgeable audience.

Confirmed speakers include Patrick Low (Chief Economist, WTO), Ndioro Ndiaye (Deputy General Secretary, International Organisation of Migration) and Duncan Green (Head of Research, Oxfam).

The Peace Child International Workshop will take place on the 24th November at 4pm in the Maths and Stats Building
Peace Child International empowers young people to take responsibility for peace, human rights and the environment through education, leadership development and direct participation in the events that shape our world community.

The Former President of Uruguay (1990 - 1995) has confirmed his attendance at the WIDS 2007 Summit and will speak at the Keynote Speech on the 24th November 2007 from 2.45pm.
Lacalle is known for having implemented a free market program in Uruguay and, during his term in office, along with his colleagues in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay co-founded the MERCOSUR.
Lacalle is now leader of the political party 'Herrerismo' and among the Party's Directorate.
As the WIDS 2007 Summit approaches, new opportunities for you to get involved are arising fast. At the moment, we are looking for people to assist in the organisation of our careers events.
