WIDS 2011 seeks to continue raising contemporary issues of utmost importance, relevance and necessity. The last decade has seen improvements, as well as drawbacks, in the development of states and peoples. The past year alone has changed the global arena drastically and WIDS is very eager to engage a wider student society in the changing world they live and take part in. WIDS 2011 aims to discuss the objectives and mechanisms of aid, with a particular focus on conflict areas. It also aspires to inform of the issues of nature and climate to reflect the current situation in Pakistan, Haiti, New Zealand and Japan as well as that of the growing uncertainty in resources. WIDS intends to integrate the role of globalisation, communication and media in assisting development, political change and economic progress. WIDS 2011 aspires to provoke, inspire to change and address the hope for a better world
WIDS is continuously expanding. This year we see great opportunities in working closely with the U8, a global partnership for development, and Student Hubs, a UK network for campaigning and charity societies. This cooperation promises to bring new dimensions to the work of WIDS and will allow it to reach undiscovered potent.
